Elias Praxmarer

Elias Praxmarer is een Oostenrijkse organist, pianist en componist. Zijn interesses zijn gericht op alles, van het vroegste repertoire, tot de muziek van de hoog romantiiek (vooral Max Reger) en tot hedendaagse muziek. Tijdens het afronden van zijn studie orgel, piano, compositie en muziektheorie aan muziekuniversiteiten in Innsbruck, Salzburg en München, waren zijn leraren Bernhard Haas, Andreas Liebig, Michael Schöch, Sebastian Euler en Franz Baur. Hij kreeg verdere  inspiratie door lessen bij Igor Levit, Reinhard Jaud, Thomas Daniel Schlee en Wolfgang Zerer. Zijn artistieke werk wordt zowel gekenmerkt door zijn optredens als vertolker als door zijn compositorische activiteit. Als solist treedt hij op bij verschillende concertreeksen en orgelfestivals, met name op belangrijke historische orgels van Europa. Zijn composities zijn gemaakt in opdracht en uitgevoerd door gerenommeerde solisten, ensembles en orkesten. Sinds 2023 worden zijn werken uitgegeven door Helbling Verlag. Elias Praxmarer heeft een aantal beurzen en prijzen ontvangen, waaronder de Richard Wagner-beurs, de "Hilde Zach"-prijs van compositie (Oostenrijk). Onlangs won hij de eerste prijs van het Oostenrijkse Concours van opkomende componisten in Tirol (Oostenrijk) en was hij een van de finalisten op het Internationale Concours van het "Anton Bruckner-Haus" in Linz en de Internationale Muziekprijs van Gasteig München. In 2018 werd hij organist bij Stift Stams, een bekend klooster met een oude muziektraditie in West-Oostenrijk, en artistiek directeur van het lokale orgelfestival. Sinds 2022 is Elias Praxmarer directeur van het Internationaal Paul Hofhaimer-Orgelconcours in Innsbruck.

Elias Praxmarer is as an Austrian organist, pianist and composer. His interests are focused on everything from the earliest repertoires, through to the music of the high romantics, especially Max Reger, and to contemporary music. While completing his studies in organ, piano, composition and theory of music at music universities in Innsbruck, Salzburg and Munich, his teachers were Bernhard Haas, Andreas Liebig, Michael Schöch, Sebastian Euler and Franz Baur. Among others, he received further impulses and inspiration through lessons with Igor Levit, Reinhard Jaud, Thomas Daniel Schlee and Wolfgang Zerer. His artistic work is characterised equally by his performances as an interpreter and by his compositional activity. As a soloist he performs at various concert series and organ festivals, particularly on important historical organs of Europe. His compositions have been commissioned and performed by renowned soloists, ensembles and orchestras. Since 2023 his works are published by Helbling Verlag. Elias Praxmarer has been awarded a number of scholarships and prices, including the Richard Wagner scholarship, the ?Hilde Zach?-award of composition (Austria). Recently, he won the first prize of the Austrian Competition of up-coming composers in Tyrol (Austria) and was one of the finalists at the International Competition of the ?Anton Bruckner-Haus? in Linz as well as the International Music Award of Gasteig Munich. In 2018 he became organist at Stift Stams, a well-known monastery with an ancient music tradition in Western Austria, and artistic director of the local organ festival. Since 2022 Elias Praxmarer is director of the International Paul Hofhaimer-Organ Competition in Innsbruck.
