Jochem Schuurman (Netherlands 1989)
received organ lessons from 1997 to 2007 from Johan G. Koers. He then studied with Theo Jellema and Erwin Wiersinga at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen, where he graduated cum laude as Master of Music in 2013. Jochem Schuurman also spent a few months in Berlin to follow lessons at the Universität der Künste with Leo van Doeselaar and Paolo Crivellaro. He followed masterclasses with Wolfgang Zerer, Eric Lebrun, Edoardo Bellotti and Pieter Dirksen. Since 2016 Jochem Schuurman has been coached by his former teacher Johan G. Koers.
In December 2013, Jochem Schuurman was awarded the Zilveren Viooltje, a music prize for young talent from the north of the Netherlands.
In 2015 he won the third prize at the international organ competition in Wuppertal, in 2017 the second prize and the audience prize at the international César Franck competition in Haarlem and in 2018 the second prize at the international Buxtehude organ competition in Lübeck and Hamburg. In 2016 and 2019 he was a finalist at the prestigious Paul Hofhaimer organ competition around the historic organs of the city of Innsbruck.
Jochem Schuurman is titular organist of the Martinikerk in Franeker which houses a monumental Van Dam organ from 1842. He is also an organ and piano teacher and artistic advisor to the Organum Frisicum Foundation.

Daarnaast verbleef Jochem Schuurman een aantal maanden in Berlijn om aan de Universität der Künste lessen te volgen bij Leo van Doeselaar en Paolo Crivellaro. Hij volgde masterclasses bij Wolfgang Zerer, Eric Lebrun, Edoardo Bellotti en Pieter Dirksen. Sinds 2016 wordt Jochem Schuurman gecoacht door zijn oud-docent Johan G. Koers.
In december 2013 werd aan Jochem Schuurman het Zilveren Viooltje, een muziekprijs voor jong talent afkomstig uit het noorden van Nederland, uitgereikt.
In 2015 behaalde hij de derde prijs op het internationale orgelconcours in Wuppertal, in 2017 de tweede prijs en de publieksprijs op het internationale César Franck-concours in Haarlem en in 2018 de tweede prijs op het internationale Buxtehude-orgelconcours in Lübeck en Hamburg. In 2016 en 2019 was hij finalist van het prestigieuze Paul Hofhaimer-orgelconcours rond de historische orgels van de stad Innsbruck.
