Victor Baena de la Torre

Als twaalfjarige begon hij gitaar en piano te spelen en studeerde later deze instrumenten aan het Conservatorium van Madrid. Toen raakte hij geïnteresseerd in de interpretatie van oude muziek, vooral die voor orgel en klavecimbel en besloot orgel te gaan studeren bij Anselmo Serna en klavecimbel en basso continuo bij Denise De La-Herrán. Als basso continuo speler heeft hij meegedaan aan diverse opera producties van bv Claudio Monteverdi en van Henry Purcell. Víctor heeft masterclasses voor orgel en klavecimbel gehad van, onder anderen, Lorenzo Ghielmi en Bernard Foccroulle. Hij is afgestudeerd aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam bij Pieter van Dijk and Matthias Havinga. Hier kreeg hij ook les in Franse romantische orgelmuziek van gastdocent Louis Robilliard. In 2018 voltooide hij zijn clavichordstudie bij Menno van Delft.
Tegenwoordig studeert hij voor het ´Konzertexamen-orgel´ aan de Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg bij Pieter van Dijk en Wolfgang Zerer. In juni 2019 won Víctor de eerste prijs op het INternationaal Schnitger Orgelconcours in Alkmaar (Nederland). In 2020 won hij de tweede prijs (ex aequo) en een prijs voor de beste interpretatie van Spaanse Oude Muziek op het orgelconcours Francisco Salinas VIII Centenario de la Catedral in Burgos (Spanje). Sinds juni 2020 studeert hij konzertexamen aan de Hochschule für Musik und Theater van Hamburg bij Wolfgang Zerer en Pieter van Dijk.
Víctor werkt als orgeldocent in de Buiksloterkerk te Amsterdam en sinds september 2022 is hij vaste organist van de Mozes en Aäronkerk te Amsterdam.

He began playing the guitar and the piano when he was twelve years old and later studied those instruments at the Conservatory of Madrid. He then became interested in the interpretation of ancient music, especially for organ and harpsichord and decided to study organ with Anselmo Serna and harpsichord and basso continuo with Denise De La-Herrán. As basso continuo player he took part in various opera productions, among others by Claudio Monteverdi and Henry Purcell. Víctor took part in masterclasses for organ and harpsichord with, a.o., Lorenzo Ghielmi and Bernard Foccroulle. He is currently studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Pieter van Dijk and Matthias Havinga. Here he also took lessons in French Romantic Music from guest professor Louis Robilliard. He completed in 2018 his clavichord studies with Menno van Delft.
Nowadays he studies for the ´Konzertexamen-orgel´ at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Pieter van Dijk and Wolfgang Zerer. In 2019 Víctor won the first prize at the International Schnitger Orgelconcours in Alkmaar (The Netherlands). In 2020 he won the second prize (ex aequo) and a prize for the best interpretation of Spanish Early Music at the organ competition Francisco Salinas VIII Centenario de la Catedral in Burgos (Spain). Since June 2020, he has been studying Konzertexamen at Hamburg's Hochschule für Musik und Theater with Wolfgang Zerer and Pieter van Dijk.
Víctor also works as organ teacher at the Buiksloterkerk in Amsterdam, and since September 2022 he has been permanent organist of the Moses and Aaron Church in Amsterdam.
